I believe it is human nature to want to improve...

...upon what we already are, have and know. I work with individuals and couples who are looking for ways to find more happiness, peace or contentment in themselves, more success and pride in their work and life choices, and more connection and intimacy in their relationships.

While many of us want to find more enjoyment in where we are now and to look forward to our future, we are often uncertain of how to accomplish these things. To do this we may:

  • approach our concerns in ways we’ve learned in our past, finding them still to be unsuccessful...
  • try using skills or approaches we’ve learned and had them initially work well only to find we seem to lack the motivation or commitment to continue using them...
  • try something we heard about or read about that worked for someone else, only to find we are unable to really make the changes our own and in a way that brings about the feelings we were really looking for.

In the end, we find ourselves back in the very rut we were striving to climb out of.

Therapy can provide that missing link that enables us to gain a deeper understanding of what is causing our frustration and unhappiness, find solutions that suit our unique personalities, goals and lifestyles, and make lasting changes that keep us from falling back into the rut.

Helping people comprehend more fully how their history is impacting their present and future and facilitating their making changes in their lives that reflect their values and desires is my goal in the work I do. For over 20 years I have been doing this with the adolescents, individual adults and couples who come to my practice.
